Jesus is Our Message: Hearts on Fire

The message of Jesus isn’t just something we talk about on Sundays—it’s the very core of who we are. It’s the heartbeat of Impact Church. Jesus is our message.

But what does that really mean? Let’s take a journey back to one of the first moments after the resurrection, where two disciples experienced a transformation that turned their despair into a message they couldn’t keep to themselves.

A Walk That Changed Everything

In Luke 24, we find two disciples walking to Emmaus, struggling with disappointment. Jesus, the One they had followed, had been crucified, and their hopes seemed shattered. As they walked, they discussed all that had happened—when suddenly, Jesus Himself joined them. But they didn’t recognize Him.

Luke 24:17 (NIV) – “They stood still, their faces downcast.”

These disciples had witnessed the greatest event in history, yet they were too focused on their disappointment to see the victory unfolding before them. Their message was one of despair, not hope.

Revealed Through the Word

Jesus, in His patience, walked with them and began teaching them from Scripture—showing how all of it pointed to Him. Yet, they still didn’t recognize Him.

It wasn’t until they invited Him in that everything changed.

Luke 24:30-31 (NLT) – “As they sat down to eat, He took the bread and blessed it. Then He broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him.”

The moment they saw Jesus clearly, everything changed. Their grief turned to passion. Their confusion turned to clarity.

Luke 24:32 (NLT) – “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as He talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”

A Message That Can’t Be Contained

What did they do next? They ran back to Jerusalem to tell the others! Their encounter with Jesus transformed them from mourners into messengers.

When Jesus is truly our message, we don’t share Him out of obligation—we share because we can’t contain what He’s done in our lives.

Faith Before Understanding

So often, we wait until we have all the answers before we trust Jesus fully. But faith isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about believing even before we see.

John 20:29 (AMP) – “Blessed [happy, spiritually secure, and favored by God] are they who did not see [Me] and yet believed [in Me].”

Faith ignites before understanding catches up. This is how Impact Church began—not from a perfect plan, but from a deep conviction that Jesus is the message the world needs.

A Fire That Spreads

Imagine a single candle lighting another. One flame becomes two, then three, then a room full of light. This is how the message of Jesus spreads—one life igniting another.

If Jesus is truly our message, then:

  • Our hearts should burn with passion for Him.

  • Our faith should be active even when we don’t have all the answers.

  • Our lives should reflect a message of hope that we can’t keep to ourselves.

At the end of the day, Impact Church isn’t about programs, music, or a building—it’s about Jesus. He is our message. And as long as we keep our eyes on Him, our hearts will burn, our faith will grow, and we will carry His message to the world.

So today, ask yourself: Is your heart on fire for Jesus?
