Luke 2:10 NLT - “but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid! He said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”

The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly the good news of deliverance. He is our Savior—our Deliverer—who has rescued us from darkness, pain, and imprisonment. Through Him, we experience the kind of joy that transforms our lives and carries us through even the toughest of times.

True joy is not introspective on what I have, but it is retrospective on what Christ gave.

Joy in the midst of struggles

Even when life feels overwhelming—when things aren’t going as planned—joy can still be found. The prophet Habakkuk declared, “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines... yet I will rejoice in the Lord!" (Habakkuk 3:17-18). This is the kind of joy that stands firm even in adversity. The world may face trials, but our joy remains unshaken because it is anchored in Christ, our Deliverer.

Power in shared joy

In Romans 12:15, we are instructed to "rejoice with those who rejoice." Sharing in the joy of others not only strengthens our relationships but also builds others up in their journey. In the same way, our joy in Christ can help others persevere through difficult times. Life can feel like a series of challenges, but joy in the Lord can sustain us, reminding us that He is greater than our circumstances.

Overflowing joy is meant for ALL PEOPLE

This joy is not just for a select few; it is meant for all people. As the angels proclaimed in Luke 2:10, “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.” No matter your background, status, or past, Jesus offers joy and salvation. His message is for everyone, and as His followers, we are called to share this joy with others. Whether it's our neighbors, coworkers, or family members—this joy is for everyone who will receive it.

Living out Joy

To live out this joy, we must draw near to Jesus. His Word is a wellspring of joy, and through Scripture, we are reminded of His goodness and promises. Psalm 16:11 tells us, "In Your presence there is fullness of joy." As we spend time in God's presence, we experience His joy in a deeper way, and it overflows into every part of our lives—transforming us and those around us.

As believers in Christ, we have been delivered from darkness into His marvelous light. With joy in our hearts, we are empowered to share that joy with a hurting world. Let us embrace the great joy of the Lord, share it freely, and be a beacon of hope to all who need it. As we walk in the joy of Christ, we not only encourage ourselves but also bring others to experience the hope and freedom that Jesus offers.
